PHNOM PENH: Secretary of State for Civil Aviation, Sin Chanserivatha, told EAC News that starting on December, six airlines have applied for resuming flights to and from Cambodia. These include Thai Smile Airways, Bangkok Airways, Thai Air Asia, Phillippines Airline and Cathay Pacific Airways, which will be flying in and out of Thailand, Philippines and Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines that already operates outbound flights to Cambodia, has now requested an additional 14 flights a week and extra seven flights a week at Siem Reap International Airport. Besides Singapore Airlines, Lanmei company will operate Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Bangkok flights two times per week.
According to the Secretary of Civil Aviation Sin Chanserivatha, in December the total number of flights will increase per week up to 43 flights a week. Compared to October, is a 16% increase, from 37 to 43 flight a week). He has added "the number of flights may vary depending on the evolution of the actual situation of control of the Covid-19 epidemic."
In addition, Sin Chanserivatha has also been urging and discussing with airlines from the Middle East to resume flights to Cambodia, such as Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways, as well as rescheduling flights from All Nippon Airways in Tokyo.
In accordance of PM Hun Sen decision to restore society, economy and tourism, on 15 November Cambodia has stopped quarantine for all travelers who have been vaccinated against Covid-19, requiring only a vaccination card and a 72h PCR test before entering to the Kingdom, followed by a quick Covid-19 test upon arrival.
